Dining out in Johannesburg is a food lover’s dream; there are so many excellent restaurants to choose from you’ll want to come back multiple times to try them all. Here are the five best.
Café del Sol
Good luck getting in here without a reservation. Café del Sol is packed to the brim no matter what day of the week thanks to delicious eats like the bacon and brie filet and rack of lamb. They also serve up some great pasta dishes.
D6 District Six Eatery
If you’re in the mood for some traditional South African fare, look no further than D6. They’re Malay-style lamb curry will knock you off your seat and you’ll definitely want to leave space for their pumpkin fritters.
Catch
Strange as it may seem, dim sum is seeing an explosion in popularity in South Africa these days and there’s no place that does it better than Catch. Try for a seat on the terrace while you enjoy their eight-plate dim sum platter with a dessert of deep-fried ice cream.
The Grillhouse Rosebank
Diners craving a well-cooked steak will feel right at home at the Grillhouse. This family-friendly restaurant is fast-paced and full of delicious sauces to try, along with perfectly prepared steaks and ribs.
Moyo
The food at Moyo is splendid, but people truly come for the atmosphere. The staff puts on traditional African music performances (in full face paint!) while you eat, making for a delightful and delectable experience for both kids and adults alike.
