Fall is a popular season in New England. Between Halloween, apple picking and other fall activities, it’s the ideal location for anyone who loves the season. What better way to welcome fall than with a trip to New England to view its stunning foliage?
Maine is home to Acadia National Park, the oldest National Park east of the Mississippi River. The park covers 47,000 acres, offering ample opportunities for taking in the fall colors. Mid-October offers the best foliage-viewing time.
Located in Massachusetts, this rural region features a mountainous landscape. Colors begin to change in late September, peaking in early-to-mid October. Towns throughout this region offer fun activities when you’re finished leaf peeping.
Traveling through the Green Mountain Byway in Vermont, travelers pass through open meadows, farmland and forests, all offering spectacular foliage views. The byway runs through the towns of Waterbury and Stowe.
The town of North Conway in New Hampshire offers the tallest mountain peak in the Northeast, Mount Washington. Make your way to White Mountain National Forest and the Kancamagus scenic trail to view the bright foliage.
Climb Heublein Tower, a 165-foot-high lookout tower for panoramic views of Connecticut’s state park. Enjoy hiking and wildlife viewing opportunities, too.
