With its historic appeal and French roots, Québec City is a foodie hub, with lots of fine dining options, cute cafés and historic pubs. Wherever you dine, though, there are a few foods you’ll want to be sure you try during your trip.
Poutine
You’ll find poutine on many a menu in Québec City, and for good reason — it’s delicious. Fries and cheese curds covered in gravy? There’s hardly anything better.
Crepes
Crepes are also fairly popular on menus throughout the city, both savory and sweet. A stop by a creperie or café for this must-try makes for a nice mid-exploration break.
Maple Taffy
Keep your eyes peeled for maple taffy stands set up outside in the more tourist-centric areas. This winter-only treat turns maple syrup into a chewy, delicious snack with the addition of a little snow.
Soupe aux Pois
This pea soup is a traditional favorite that sometimes receives some modern-day upgrades, depending on the restaurant and menu. Look for it when you need something to warm you up from the chilly Québec City weather.
Cretons
This pork-based pate is one you’ll see available on menus alongside other pates, but it’ll also make an appearance on charcuterie and cheese boards as well.
