The Croatian capital of Zagreb is home to some truly unusual museums, chief among them the Museum of Broken Relationships. The city of Dubrovnik is more famous for its beaches than its museums, but it is also home to the Museum of Croatian War of Independence. Housed inside the Imperial Fort, the location is spectacular. With more than 500 exhibits, the museum tells the story of Croatia’s bloody independence struggle from 1991–1995.
Head off to the town of Krapina to learn about our human ancestors at the Neanderthal Museum. Krapina is home to the largest collection of Neanderthal fossils in the world, and the town is famous among paleontologists.
