Trends / Adventure

In an expedition straight out of Conan Doyle’s famous works, the Lost World trek up Mount Roraima in Venezuela is one of the most remote regions of the world and will surely leave a lasting impression.

The six-day trek begins in the city of Ciudad Bolivar, where you’ll enjoy a guided tour of the city to learn all about the culture and history of the charming town. After resting, you’ll head off to the mountain. It’s a steep hike to the top with elevations reaching 9,220 feet.

Rather than take the straightforward path, your experienced trekking guide will take you on a secret route through a cloud forest filled with waterfalls and tons of local wildlife. Once you reach the plateau you’ll have two days to explore the area that borders Guyana and Brazil, known as the Triple Point.

Rather than ending the trip there, the tour will continue on by plane to the famed Angel Falls, the highest waterfall in the world. Along the way you’ll be provided accommodations ranging from hotels to camping so you’d better be prepared to rough it a little.

Check out the Mountain Kingdoms website for more information on the tour and ways to book your reservation.

Are You Ready for the Final Switch to Real ID?

Yesterday, TSA began enforcing new identification guidelines, a change that’s been a long-time coming. Now, travelers must show a REAL ID-compliant, state-issued ID in order to fly on domestic flights, in lieu of a non-compliant driver’s license (some other forms of identification, such as passports, will still be acceptable).
