The small town of Harrogate sits just outside the city of Leeds, in the county of West Yorkshire.
Harrogate is known for its picturesque streets and well-heeled residents, and the whole town has an air of quiet sophistication that visitors find completely charming.

Have breakfast at Jake’s ($15) before taking a walk around the narrow, winding streets of town. Pop into one of the many boutique shops. Or alternatively sign up to the “Highlights of Harrogate” walking tour which will give you an idea of the rich history of this storied town.
Harrogate first became popular as a spa town, and no visit would be complete without sampling the famous waters. For a slice of history, go to the Turkish Baths & Health Spa, which opened in 1896 ($45 on weekends). Chill out in the pools and splash out on a package of treatments to get the full experience.

After a relaxing dip in the therapeutic waters, take in another Harrogate icon by taking afternoon tea at Betty’s Café Tea Rooms. The establishment serves a classic British afternoon tea with only the finest ingredients ($20).
Take a stroll around town to digest your food before a quick snack at Sasso’s restaurant ($20 with wine). Thoroughly fed and watered, retire for bed and allow your body to recuperate as many other visitors came to do in years past.
