New York might not be at the top of your list for budget destinations, but with such a wide variety of neighborhoods and options, you can actually find plenty to do for an affordable price; you just need to know where to look. Head to Soho for a high-brow locale on a low-brow budget.
The Soho district of Manhattan covers the Lower Manhattan region, famous for its shopping, fun nightlife and Greenwich Village beatnik history. Now, you can stroll the city streets, window shop, sip cocktails and dine on an eclectic mix of cultural fare — all on the cheap.
Take yourself on a free tour of the city by foot, exploring Chinatown, Little Italy and all the scenic attractions along the way. If you’re into architecture, there’s a whole list of buildings you should see if you’re walking in the area, including the apartment from the 1990 film Ghost.
If you’re feeling peckish, stop in Dominique Ansel NY for sweets and a coffee, or, if you’re lucky, grab a world-famous cronut in its original home.
For something with a little more substance, check out the menus lined under the arches in Little Italy. The street may be small, but it is literally packed with places to eat, so shop around for the best price.
For something more grab-and-go or more bang-for-your-buck, Chinatown is also covered in stalls, many of which are actually reasonably priced.

Insta FeedAre You Ready for the Final Switch to Real ID?
Yesterday, TSA began enforcing new identification guidelines, a change that’s been a long-time coming. Now, travelers must show a REAL ID-compliant, state-issued ID in order to fly on domestic flights, in lieu of a non-compliant driver’s license (some other forms of identification, such as passports, will still be acceptable).
