A day in the Japanese capital may strain your $100 budget, but you can still do a lot.

Check out the pancakes at Flipper’s for breakfast, known as some of the best in a city famous for its love of the food. There are loads of toppings to choose from, with a mixture of sweet and savory options on offer ($15).

Now head off to Tsukiji market, where you will be able to see fish and many other products auctioned off. You’ll have to arrive early, but even if you miss the morning auctions you will be able to appreciate the scale of the operation.

For lunch, dip into one of the sushi stalls that sit around the edge of the market. It’s not that cheap, but you will get incredibly fresh fish here for far less than at one of the restaurants in town ($30).

After you eat, take a trip to Shibuya crossing, the busiest intersection in the world and the stage for some of the best-known photos of Tokyo. Then have a wander through the Shibuya neighborhood, known for its youth culture and incredible street life.

For dinner, head to Gut’s Soul, an all-you-can-eat Korean barbecue chain where you can fill up on as much food as you can stomach for around $20. You can also upgrade to an all-you-can-drink option, which means you will have two hours to eat, drink and make merry.

After that, head out to the Shinjuku neighborhood for a few drinks at bars like Bar Benfiddich and Zoetrope (cocktails $10).
