The beautiful seaside town of Weymouth is a gateway to the Jurassic Coast, and there is enough to see to make you stay, too.
Start the day at Café Oasis, where you can sit looking over the sea while you enjoy a hearty breakfast. It’s open all through the day, but breakfast is a great time to watch the bay come to life ($12). From here, walk down the beach into town to visit Nothe Fort, a Victorian-era coastal fort that now houses a museum ($8). It’s a great way to learn about the history of the area and look out over the water.
For lunch, try one of the amazing seafood restaurants in the center of town. Crustacean is run by an imaginative chef who puts his own spin on the best seafood from the region, and there is a great value three-course set menu for $35. It’s a bit of a treat, but worth every penny. Book ahead to make sure you get a table.
In the afternoon, take a stroll around the center of town and relax on the beach for a while. Stop in at The Ship Inn for a drink ($6), and then go for dinner at Manbos, a popular bistro in the center of town ($20).
