Under $100 / North America

Whistler certainly isn’t known as a cheap destination, but it’s possible to visit the iconic British Columbia ski resort without breaking the bank.

Start your day at Fix Café, inside the beautiful Nita Lake Lodge. Coffee and a hot breakfast sandwich will only set you back around $10.

Next, plan your day around free activities like hikes, accessed without spending a dime. Areas like Lost Lake Park, Brandywine Falls Provincial Park and Alexander Falls are all great options for exploring on the cheap. Some hotels, like Nita Lake Lodge, offer guests free access to comfort cruiser bikes and kayaks, so you can easily spend part of your day with these activities as well.

For lunch, head to Whistler Village and dine at Green Moustache. Here, the tasty organic options, like grain bowls and salads, will cost around $20.

Another great Whistler activity is a visit to Audain Art Museum. Entry is $18 for adults (with youth under 18 entering for free) and exhibits include First Nations art and other pieces from throughout British Columbia’s history.

For dinner, head back to the village for a meal of Spanish-influenced food and craft cocktails at Bar Oso, a worthwhile splurge using the remainder of your day’s budget.
