Under $100 / Europe

Budapest, capital of Hungary, is a fantastic option for a cheap city trip. You can comfortably spend a day eating, drinking and sightseeing for less than $100.

Breakfast at KicsiZso is a wonderful start. The menu focuses on high-quality Hungarian food with the freshest ingredients. Devour scrambled eggs with mangalitsa or a salami bagel for less than $10 and your Budapest experience begins.

Take in the beauty of the city’s gorgeous churches and buildings. Most tours only cost around $12, and are full of fantastic sights and history. The pinball museum is also entertaining.

Zeráj is a happening place both day and night, offering a delicious mix of Hungarian and Turkish cuisine close to Elvis Presley Park. A typical lunch of a kebab, salad and a dessert will cost you less than $10. Zeráj is also open late night for any post-party hunger.

Yes, Elvis Presley Park. He was named an honorary citizen in 2011 to praise his support following the 1956 uprising in Hungary.

Treat yourself to dinner at Comme Chez Soi. This well-known local restaurant often has lines out the door, so make a reservation or you’ll miss out. A main course costs between $10 to $20, but be warned, the restaurant only accepts cash.

The nightlife is affordable in Budapest. A recent study named it the cheapest in Europe. A beer or glass of wine costs only $1.50 at most bars. Get the fun started at Szimpla Kert Ruin Pub.

There are so many bars, restaurants and sights in Budapest at great prices. A fantastic day out for less than $100 is easy.
