The Formula 1 circus comes to Austin, Texas, in late October as the season builds toward its climax.
High-octane racing between the best drivers in the world is on the cards at the Circuit of the Americas Oct. 23, in the fourth to last race of the current F1 season. So far, the championship has been a two-horse race between the two Mercedes cars of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, with the likes of Red Bull and Ferrari battling it out for the lower places.
However, Hamilton and Rosberg served up some moments of high drama in their battle for supremacy, with Hamilton overcoming a disastrous start to the season to overhaul his teammate in the standings at the time of writing. By the time F1 reaches Austin this year the race could play a pivotal role in deciding who wins the championship, as the Texas race comes toward the tail end of the season.
The Circuit of the Americas forged a reputation for exciting racing thanks to a design which incorporates some of the most noteworthy features from other circuits around the world. The layout makes for a great spectator experience which, while it may not come cheap, is a great opportunity to enjoy a unique day out.
The 5.5-kilometer circuit is found in Wandering Creek, southwest of Austin. The Texan capital has great flight connections both domestically and internationally, as well as plenty of culture to keep you entertained if you have time for a longer stay.
