Shoe design company Uwezo creates “style with substance.” Meaning “capacity” or “ability” in Swahili, Uwezo creates more than just great shoes. It takes advantage of its capacity to give back, donating a percentage of its profits from each pair of shoes sold to scholarship funds for Empower African Children. The organization provides young people the opportunity to receive education, learn leadership skills and partake in character development programs.

Each pair of Uwezo shoes are crafted from repurposed hair-on cowhide, meaning no two pairs are exactly the same — making them a great gift option. The carefully crafted and ethically sourced shoes come in a variety of styles including men’s Oxford, Slip On and Desert Boot, and women’s Desert Boot, Mule Loafer and Oxford.
