Vacuum Pack Your Suitcase

We have all had trouble getting our suitcase to close before a big trip, with clothes and other items simply refusing to squish into place.

Vago developed a solution for everyone who struggles to pack light. The device is essentially a vacuum compressor which allows you to save significant amounts of space by sucking the air out of a vacuum bag containing your clothes and other soft items.

A vacuum compressor may conjure images of unwieldy machinery that would take up space in your bag, but Vago is just seven centimeters long. The device is charged using a micro USB cable which is also used for many brands of cellphone.

By compressing soft items in your luggage, Vago offers to create more space for souvenirs and other items you may otherwise have had to leave behind. During a successful Kickstarter campaign, the company was offering Vago devices for $31, with vacuum bags on sale for $3 each.

Compression seems like a great way of cramming more stuff into your pack. However, you will have to be careful not to break the luggage weight limits after you fill the extra space.

Vago is arguably better suited to backpacking given the fact that any clothes stored in the vacuum bags will likely emerge badly wrinkled. It is hard to imagine executive travelers stuffing smart clothes into a vacuum bag and spending hours ironing out the creases on arrival.

Depending on the kind of trip you are embarking on, Vago could be a good solution to an age-old travel problem.
