Visit the World’s Highest Glass Bridge

After a bit of drama that saw it opening and closing in quick succession, China’s record-breaking glass bridge is now finally open again to tourists.

The bridge, which crosses the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Scenic Area in China’s Hunan Province, holds the record as the world’s longest and highest glass bridge. A heart-thumping walk takes visitors across 1,410 feet, and the transparent walkway gives visitors breathtaking views into the canyon below. The bridge spans a width of just 20 feet.

A huge influx of tourists closed the bridge soon after it opened in August of this year. By early September, the bridge closed after just 13 days of operation.

The bridge’s management committee installed a monitoring system that helps control the number of people visiting the attraction. There are also free shuttle buses to the area, a new feature post-reopening on Sept. 30.

Tickets are required and must be purchased one day in advance. The attraction forbids anyone to run on the bridge, wear high heels or carry anything other than a cell phone with a cover and a small personal item like a purse.
