Antigua and Barbuda Restaurant Week kicks off May 7 and, instead of lasting just one week, continues for 14 fantastic days of culinary fun. The first-ever event of this kind, Antigua and Barbuda Restaurant Week was created by the Antigua & Barbuda Tourism Authority to extend traveler interest in the destination beyond the popular winter travel months.

So, what can you expect if you head to this Caribbean locale May 7–21?

The islands are known for blending a range of cuisines, including West African, Creole, European, Latin, Asian and Middle Eastern, and you’ll certainly see that blend during the event. Participating restaurants will offer event-special, fixed-price lunches and dinners, with prices ranging from $25 to $75 per meal. Celebrity chefs will make appearances, while Eat Like a Local experiences will allow travelers to dine alongside locals, some of whom invite travelers into their homes for meals at $15 a plate.

“Antigua and Barbuda Restaurant Week is a delicious way to explore the culture of our country,” said Charles Henry Fernandez, minister for tourism, foreign affairs and immigration, Antigua & Barbuda, “because the beach is just the beginning of what these islands have to offer.”

Are You Ready for the Final Switch to Real ID?

Yesterday, TSA began enforcing new identification guidelines, a change that’s been a long-time coming. Now, travelers must show a REAL ID-compliant, state-issued ID in order to fly on domestic flights, in lieu of a non-compliant driver’s license (some other forms of identification, such as passports, will still be acceptable).
