With the touch of a button you can hail a personal driver to take you across town. Uber completely mastered transportation in the age of convenience, so what could be next?
In Brazil, UberCopter has made transportation normally reserved for the select elite accessible to everyday passengers for $17 to $80 a seat. In France, you can fly from Nice to Cannes for €160 a seat. You can even UberPool with other riders just as you can with the car service.
Helicopters are seen as the ultimate luxury vehicle and in heavy populated areas with high traffic it could be seen as a viable option for several cities. Of course, it’s not practical for use everywhere.
Uber expanded UberCopter for use at large festivals and elite events where people are willing to shell out the extra cash, and plans to expand to several more cities in time.
There are also several other companies following suit like Gotham Air, and BLADE —starting work in NYC for airport and Hamptons trips.
For now, it still seems a little far-fetched to use copters for everyday use, but in time it could just be the new taxi.
