Reviews / Airline

My husband and I recently took a trip to Nashville, thanks to Southwest Airlines’ great fare sale. We arrived to the airport earlier than we originally planned for our return flight to Philadelphia (PHL). We settled into seats at our gate and charged our devices ahead of boarding.

Shortly before boarding was set to begin, the gate agent announced the scheduled flight attendant could not make our flight and they were looking for a replacement. Later, about the time we were supposed to board, he updated us, saying they found a replacement who was on her way. We made our way to our designated boarding area, as we were in an early boarding zone. A few minutes after this he said they needed to find someone else. Finally, a replacement flight attendant arrived at the gate around 11:30 a.m., when we were originally scheduled to depart. We were flying directly to Philadelphia, so thankfully the delay didn’t disrupt a connecting flight. The gate agent’s signature Southwest humor went a long way in lightening the inconvenient situation.

Once on board, the flight attendant announced it was a 100 percent full flight. Despite this, a few seats were open, including the seat next to me. I enjoyed being able to stretch out a bit. The flight attendants swiftly came through the cabin for complimentary beverage service. We had free alcoholic drink coupons, so I ordered a Bloody Mary. When I reached to give her the coupon, she smiled and said she didn’t need it. I appreciated the gesture!

After a delayed start to our trip home, I was grateful for an easy return. The flight was smooth and went by quickly. After a soft landing and efficient disembarkment, we were on our way to ground transportation in no time.
