Tips / Travel

Rude plane passengers are a dime a dozen. How you choose to handle one could make or break your trip. Here are some tips for dealing with the douche seated next to you.

Be Polite

If your neighbor in Seat 17A is needlessly aggressive, practice the old adage and kill ‘em with kindness. It’ll help lighten their mood and hopefully turn them over to your side, making life easier for both of you.

Offer a Truce

If they’re doing something that’s bugging you, try making a deal with them. For instance, maybe you’ll turn off your computer screen in the dark if they agree to keep their arm off your seat. Deal making is a great strategy for people who weren’t taught basic manners.

Move Seats

Perhaps ask (read: trick) some poor soul into trading seats with you. If there are any open on the flight, slink your way over there after take off and leave the miserable crouch.

Get a Flight Attendant

Airline rules are in place for a reason and you’re entitled to your own comfort and space on a plane. You paid for it after all. Flight attendants will help you settle an issue and remove the offending passenger if the situation is dire enough. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
