Trazee Travel’s five favorite cities of Barcelona.
Barcelona
Known for its art, architecture and Gothic Quarter, Barcelona is Spain’s top tourist destination for good reason. The Catalonia region offers sweeping, panoramic views of the sea in one direction, and a cosmopolitan metropolis in the other. The legendary Sagrada Familia church, Museu Picasso and medieval Gothic Quarter are just a handful of the must-see historic landmarks. Foodies should be sure to check out the La Boqueria market, offering a vibrant culinary scene or any of the many seafood restaurants scattered over the coast. Eixample and El Born boast vivacious nightlife entertainment and bars for music and dancing.
Madrid
Spain’s capital city offers baroque architecture, masterfully preserved parks, theater and arts, nightlife and much more. The expansive Plaza Mayor is Madrid’s main square and remains a top sight for tourists to explore cafes, shopping and sightseeing. The Museo Nacional del Prado is just one of the many world-class art collections in the city, housing 12th–19th-century masterpieces.
Seville
Seville is an amazing Spanish city famous for Flamenco dancing, festivals and cobblestone alleys. Located in the Andalusia region or southern Spain, Seville has an ornate history of fine arts and unbeatable tapas. The Seville April Fair is a celebration of eating, drinking and dancing, and prime time to visit.
Granada
Another Moorish quarter of Spain offering panoramic views of 16th-century cathedrals, hilltop fortresses and endless beauty is Granada. Located at the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains, this sprawling city offers an eclectic blend of modern city street art and ancient history.
Tarragona
Along Spain’s Catalonia region lays port city Tarragona. Located in the northeast, this medieval town boasts ancient ruins from Roman-conquered colonies, Mediterranean views and archeological treasures. With so much history and natural beauty encompassed in the eclectic terrain, Tarragona offers a perfect blend of old-city charm and new city comforts. The handcrafted shops, open-air cafes and marina bars offer modern nightlife amidst the city’s old-world charm.
