Under $100 / North America

The Bronx is the northernmost borough of New York City. On your next trip to New York, visit Manhattan’s neighbor.

Start your day with breakfast at Mon Amour Coffee & Wine. The French-style café offers flavorful pastries and coffee for breakfast. Grab a muffin and coffee for less than $10. The New York Botanical Garden is one of the largest in the United States. The garden collection sits on 250 acres and boasts a variety of plant life and special exhibits. A weekday pass costs $23 or pay $28 for a weekend pass.

Take a stroll down Arthur Avenue, The Bronx’s Little Italy neighborhood. There are a variety of shops to browse from bakeries to coffee shops. Stick around and have lunch at Trattoria Zero Otto Nove. Pizzas are light, with a thin crust and simple ingredients. Spend about $15.

Tour Poe Cottage. Edgar Allan Poe spent the last years of his life in The Bronx. The cottage is open to the public Thursday–Sunday. Adult admission costs $5.

Have dinner at Charlie’s Bar & Kitchen. Popular among locals, the bar and restaurant has a low-key vibe, with Southern-inspired dishes. Small plates start at $7 and entrees start at $15. Grab a nightcap at The Bronx Beer Hall. Choose from year-round beers or the rotating tap boasting local and specialty brews. Pints start at $4.50.
