Cape Town is an unmissable destination. From its beautiful mountain, historic Robben Island, wine regions and much more, spending a day in this scenic city will leave your wallet a bit empty. Take our advice and check out some of the treasures the Mother City has to offer.

 

Start the morning with a hike up Lion’s Head, a mountain steeped in romance and tradition. Climb the mountain before sunrise and enjoy a relaxing breakfast picnic with breathtaking views of the city.

 

Go hippo spotting, eland viewing and bird watching in Rondevlei Nature Reserve. This treasure is a short drive from the center of the city. Entry is R12 ($.86 USD) for adults and R6 ($.43) for children. Take a look at more than 200 species of indigenous plants and 20 mammal species. On your way out ,don’t forget to stop by the museum.

Explore the V&A Waterfront in the heart of Cape Town’s harbor and experience the historic walk. Choose from more than 80 restaurants for lunch from Gibson’s Gourmet Burger and Ribs starting at R85 ($6 USD) for a burger to the Harbour House for the freshest seafood.

 

Stop by Beerhouse with beers starting from R6 ($.43 USD) all the way to R450 ($32.37) for the Crazy Diamond by Triggerfish Brewery. The contemporary beer hall showcases the best local, international and micro-brewed beers.

United Continues Its Global Expansion

United Airlines keeps soaring to new heights, recently announcing another expansion of its leading global route network. The airline added new non-stop flights between Newark (EWR) and Marrakesh (RAK), Morocco; Tokyo (NRT) and Cebu (CEB), Philippines; and Houston (IAH) and Medellin (MDE), Colombia. That’s not all: United also plans to increase flights to popular worldwide destinations including Hong Kong (HKG); Seoul (INC), South Korea; and Porto (OPO), Portugal. Following the recent agreement to increase flights between the U.S. and Chinese governments, the airline now adds four weekly flights from Los Angeles (LAX) to Shanghai (PVG).
