Under $100 / North America

El Paso is situated in the far western corner of Texas, along the Rio Grande. The city draws influences from both the Lone Star State and its close neighbor, Mexico.

They say everything’s bigger in Texas. Enjoy breakfast with huge portions at Crave Kitchen & Bar. With three locations in El Paso, choose from breakfast classics with a local twist including churro waffles, chorizo scramble and biscuits and green chile gravy. Spend about $10 on breakfast.

Experience El Paso from above with a ride on the Wyler Aerial Tramway. A gondola takes visitors to the top of Ranger Peak for a stunning view. A ranger-guided tram tour costs $8. Call before you visit, as the tramway sometimes closes due to inclement weather.

Grab lunch at L & J Café. This family-owned restaurant has been serving traditional Mexican dishes since 1927. The menu offers a new take on comfort food classics and regional favorites. Lunch costs about $10. View the displays at the El Paso Museum of Art. The museum houses a permanent collection of more than 6,000 works, including European, American and Mexican art. Admission is free.

Finish your night with dinner and some brews at The Hoppy Monk. With another location in San Antonio, the bar and restaurant offers a long list of beer, wine and spirits to accompany the pub grub. The Hoppy Monk offers a late-night happy hour — or Hoppy Hour as they call it — after 10 p.m. Sunday–Thursday. Spend about $20–30.
