Long Beach Island is one of the greatest family destinations of the Jersey Shore. LBI is an 18-mile stretch that has something for everything, whether it be mini golf, an amusement park or the nightlife.
Start your day at Scojo’s Restaurant in Surf City. Try to arrive at an off time, as there is almost always a wait. Enjoy their sensational cinnamon bun French toast topped with caramel, walnuts and whipped cream or the banana Nutella French toast for $9.99. Be sure to order a side of homemade home-fried potatoes for $3.49 or pork roll — a New Jersey staple — for $3.99.
After breakfast, head to the beach for a nice relaxing day in the sun and don’t forget to buy your beach badge for $7.
For lunch, head to Surf Taco, serving some of the freshest and healthiest coastal cuisine. The unique blend of tacos, burritos, wraps and salads are quite infamous at the Jersey Shore. Order the Surf Taco with fresh cod battered in tempura topped with shredded cabbage, pico de gallo, white cilantro sauce and a squeeze of lime for $3.95, or the Aloha wrap with teriyaki chicken, sesame seeds, pineapple, jack and cheddar cheeses, lettuce, tomato and red onion for $7.25 — don’t forget to add fresh avocado for $1.75. No meal is complete at Surf Taco without chips and guacamole for $4.25.
Play a round of mini golf before heading back to the beach — there are plenty of courses to choose from, including The Sand Trap, Surf City Island Golf, Hartland Golf and more. Prices vary between $7-8, depending on the course and time of day.
Pinky Shrimp’s Seafood Market is a must if you love seafood. All of the seafood served is fresh and locally sourced, from local clams, to oysters, scallops, shrimp — raw, cooked and cocktail — to lobster bisque and creamy New England chowda. Prices range from $5 for a cup of soup to $26 for a sublime sea scallop supper.
After dinner, head to Fantasy Island Amusement Park in Beach Haven for a game of skee-ball or to ride the sea dragon ride. If that doesn’t peak your interest, stop by Joe Pop’s Shore Bar and Restaurant for a fun night out. Joe Pop’s is one of the coolest places on the island, right in the heart of Ship Bottom. You’ll find a great atmosphere day or night — be sure to check out the live bands.
