Málaga, Spain, is a beautiful port city increasingly gaining popularity among travelers due to its beaches, history and art. Here is a guide for spending a day in Málaga.
Begin your day with a hearty breakfast at Noviembre. This trendy restaurant has great breakfasts and only uses organic eggs. Nothing should cost more than $10–13.
Málaga is the birthplace of the world famous artist, Picasso; a wonderful museum showcases more than 200 pieces of his work. The pieces were loaned to them from the descendants of his family. The price is $10 for full access to the museum, plus whatever temporary exhibit is showcased.
The next place to visit is the Cathedral of Malaga. For $10, you can walk through the cathedral, take in the architecture and enjoy roof access, great for taking stunning photos. Take a break from the sightseeing to get some delicious tapas at Uvedoble Taberna. This restaurant features modern art and adds a modern twist on traditional Málaga tapas. The tapas are affordable and will not cost more than $3.
After lunch, spend the afternoon on the beach to relax. Málaga has beautiful beaches that are free, unless you want to pay for a beach chair and umbrella. Bring your own beach towel and watch as the clouds pass overhead. As the sun goes down, take a walk and follow the beach until you reach the port area to admire the boats. This is a great place to take photos.
For dinner, go to El Balneario de los Baños del Carmen and enjoy an amazing plate of seafood. Málaga’s proximity to the water makes it a great destination for seafood lovers. The meals range $10–20 and there is live music every Saturday.
