Under $100 / Europe

Rome is a mecca in Italy for historic sights, shopping and eating, and it can be done on a budget. With so much to do, see and buy in Rome, haggling while shopping around is a must.

Start at the Spanish Steps and take in the beautiful city around you. Walk up for a better view and around to explore the city. Toward the center of town surrounded by shops and cafes is the Trevi Fountain which, although beautiful during the day, is a truly its best at night.

On the corner, next to the historic fountain is the best gelato in Italy, Gelateria Valentino. For €2 a cone, there are many affordable options to choose from. Add an espresso to you order for a €1 or less and that’s an Italian breakfast.

The smaller shops all over the city have unique Italian blown glass, hand-carved souvenirs and much more. Almost every price is up for negotiation, so there is a chance savvy shoppers can make out after a day of shopping in Rome.

The Coliseum and surrounding ruins are a great daytrip away from the city shops when the weather is nice. For around €30, tourists can explore the inside of the Coliseum and the expansive land of ancient ruins.

After the day of historic sightseeing, bargain shopping and desserts, try any of the outdoor dining spots in the city, preferably those with a view. Once the Trevi lights come on, live music begins. As the sun goes down, the natives wake up for the night.

The city comes alive at night and any remaining cash will be best spent on drinks, which are much more budget friendly than in the States. Finish off the night with free dancing and fun in the town square — when in Rome!

Stay at Kona Village on the Big Island of Hawai’i and you may think your experience consists solely of private, residential-style luxury and perhaps the occasional fresh pineapple, but Rosewood Resort has something else a little special. More specifically, Kona Village has its very own Mai Tai Mile, where guests can find four unique and different takes on the Mai Tai. Each distinct drink is inspired by its setting and comes with its own story.
