If you’re visiting Germany for the first time, you may be surprised you can experience a traditional Bavarian brewery without ever leaving Munich Airport. Airbräu is the airport’s own restaurant, beer hall and, yes, brewery, creating their own brews right on site, all overseen by a master brewer.
Airbräu is the only airport brewery in Europe and the only airport brewery in the world still using the Purity Decree of 1516 to craft beers, incorporating hops from Germany’s Hallertau region and Hofbräuhaus brewer’s yeasts. They offer three year-round brews, accompanied by a rotation of five seasonal beers. Their holiday selection, which you can find now, includes Krampus, a dark beer named after a particularly devilish character in German folklore.

For those who want to see what goes on behind the scenes, tours of the brewery are offered, led by a certified brewmaster to answer all of your burning questions. Watch how the professionals turn four simple, natural ingredients into a pure and one-of-a-kind beverage, all from the confines of an airport.
When you’re headed home from your travels, be sure to take a gift from Airbräu with you. The brewery offers their beers for purchase by the keg, bottle and can.
