The wearables market gets more competitive each day. One of the latest additions is heart rate monitoring, a feature more and more economical with advancing technology. Garmin recently updated their Vívosmart line of fitness trackers to include this feature.
Garmin’s latest band allows fitness enthusiasts to easily track not only their steps and distance, but also calories, floors climbed and activity intensity. All of this information is accessible via its color touchscreen which has a sharper picture compared to the Vívosmart. The addition of a 24/7 heart rate monitor has one trade-off, and that’s battery life. While Garmin’s other bands can last up to a year, the Vívosmart HR needs to be recharged every five days, and that’s on a proprietary cable.
In addition to fitness tracking, the band will also wirelessly sync to the Garmin app as well as Apple’s iPhone Health app. When paired with a smartphone, the Vívosmart can receive notifications and even allow you to answer a phone call. The device is also fully waterproof and can automatically detect you going to bed.
The Vívosmart HR can be purchased on the Garmin website or on Amazon for $150.
