Keeping in touch with loved ones can be tricky when you´re flying and moving from place to place. Thankfully modern technology stepped in to make it easy to connect with platforms like Skype and WhatsApp, both of which, however, require a strong Internet connection. Without connecting to WiFi, it is still possible to connect with others thanks to goTenna.
goTenna is a device that syncs with your smartphone (Android and iOS devices) to enable you to make network-free calls. With the goTenna paired with your device, you can share your location, make phone calls and send text messages to others who also have a goTenna. The device generates its own signal, so a connection to cell towers is not necessary. Just pull out the extendable antenna when you´re ready to use, and strap it onto your backpack using the adjustable strap for hands-free use.
Although the range is not as expansive as it is with other messaging devices, goTenna can come in handy when your group is hiking different trails, attending crowded events or waiting for a ride to collect you from the airport.
Available for purchase in packs of two, keep one for yourself and give the other to a friend with whom you need to stay in touch when you travel. Two 1.8-ounce goTennas cost $199 and come in a variety of colors.
