There’s a reason NYC has its own Fashion Week. This destination is home to not only some of your favorite luxury labels, but also the same couture fashions you see on the runway. Fashion Week may leave you with a packed schedule, but be sure to squeeze in visits to one of these famous fashion-themed sites.
Start your explorations with a stop at the Big Button and its kiosk. You’ll find plenty of information there to help you find exactly what you’re looking for.
Then, right across the street is Parsons The New School For Design, which has been used in filming for Project Runway. They frequently hold events and exhibitions open to the public, including many during Fashion Week.
The Museum at FIT is where you’ll want to go, however, if your trip to New York only includes time for one museum visit. During Fashion Week, you can find exhibitions on fairy-tale fashion and denim as fashion’s frontier, as well as a permanent collection of thousands of pieces from the 18th century onward.
The Fashion Walk of Fame is not to be missed, either. The plaques honoring only the best in American fashion are located between 35th and 41st Streets on Fashion Avenue and feature notable favorites such as Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. Each plaque holds a small inscription, as well as an original sketch from the designer.
