Honeymoons

With planning, spending and too much family time, weddings can be stressful affairs. Thus, newlyweds look forward to a honeymoon after the event to wind down and enjoy alone time as a couple. However, a rising trend in the wedding industry has involved taking a solo honeymoon, or a unimoon,

Hectic work schedules, limited holiday time and tight finances have caused couples to re-think lavish honeymoons. Instead of forking over thousands of dollars for a tropical getaway, flights and all-inclusive packages, some newlyweds are opting for solo vacations if one part of the couple is unable to escape from work. Some also find that they can get away for a select amount of time, while the other member of the couple can extend his or her stay.

There is much debate as to whether unimoons are a wise idea for a newly united couple. The purpose of a vacation after the wedding is to spend quality time together in an enjoyable environment. The concept of a unimoon arises only out of necessity due to a conflicting work schedule or limited finances, so the idea is unlikely to become a popular travel trend. However, for certain types of couples, it may be a feasible and acceptable plan.
