The city of Bordeaux may be most famous for the vineyards surrounding it, but the center of town has plenty to offer visitors.
Surrounded by famous 18th-century architecture, visitors will be swept away to times past. With breakfast at Brasserie Le Tourny ($20), you can sit on the terrace and watch as the locals get their day started.

Head down to the Garonne River and take a wander along its banks. Hop on one of the modern trams to get a feel for town, before taking a spin around the CAPC Modern Art Museum ($4).
Continue your tour around the historic old town, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site, and lunch at Le Noailles. If you are feeling adventurous, opt for the local specialty, pig’s tripe, or sample some oysters ($30).
In the afternoon take a tour to a nearby vineyard with the tourist board ($15). It wouldn’t be a trip to Bordeaux without seeing where the city’s most famous export is made. If you are feeling flashy, invest in some fine wines for special occasions.

In the evening, go back into the middle of town to eat at Miles Restaurant. In a city dominated by traditional French cuisine, it’s a breath of fresh air to sample a three- to four-course menu whipped up by chefs from Korea, Denmark, India and England. Influences are, evidently, varied, and the food is something special ($30).
Round off your evening with a digestive stroll along the river before heading back to your hotel.
