Europa Hotel Belfast is the second most bombed hotel in Europe. While I was not thrilled to hear this fact before my stay, once in Ireland I realized the bombings took place years ago during the Troubles and the hotel is entirely safe. The property is located in the heart of the city, walking distance to City Hall and many popular bars and restaurants.
My room was a comfortable size with all of the standard hotel room amenities. I couldn’t get my television to work — it was set to a music station and when I switched to cable, I was met with fuzz. Since my itinerary for Belfast was busy, I didn’t bother calling the front desk for assistance. I did, however, stop by the concierge desk for help when I realized I brought the wrong outlet adapter. The gentleman provided the correct adapter, just asking for me to return it upon check-out. If you plan to take advantage of the complimentary WiFi, the password changes each day, so be sure to check with the front desk if your stay is more than one night.
I looked forward to sampling a traditional Irish breakfast in the morning, so I stopped by the hotel’s lobby restaurant, The Causerie. The buffet-style set-up featured local ingredients, including pastries, fruits, meats and beans. A pamphlet detailing information about the local suppliers providing the ingredients sat on each table — a nice touch, I thought. I found the dining room to be a bit too hectic, so on my second morning in Belfast, I opted for room service instead. I enjoyed meats, cheeses, tea and a pastry with rich Irish butter and jelly.
Europa Hotel Belfast is an ideal choice if you want to stay within close proximity of many of Belfast’s most popular attractions.
