You can eat cheaply at one of the ubiquitous beach shacks or street food stalls in Dakar, but there are also some great high-end restaurants for when you want a treat meal.
Le Relais Sportif
This place sits right on the beach on the Cornishe West seafront. The tables look over the sea, which makes for a perfect sundowner spot. Order a monkfish skewer and a local beer and watch the locals wander by on the beach.
Le Lagon I
Standing up on stilts over the ocean, this place has great views over Gorée Island. Seafood features heavily on the menu, and there is also an extensive cocktail list.
Le Bideew
Tucked away in the old town of Dakar, inside the Institut Français Léopold Sédar Senghor, this atmospheric spot offers both Senegalese and French food. Dip in here after exploring the old town and you’ll have a chance to relax away from the crowds.
Sokhamon Hotel
Bag a table on the terrace at this hotel restaurant on the waterfront and you can kick back to enjoy food and drinks with a great view.
Le Ngor
A wide-ranging menu makes this a great place to eat with a bigger group. It’s been running a long time for good reason.
