On Labor Day Weekend, I visited Blue Ridge Winery in Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania, for a bachelorette party. Not knowing anything about the winery prior, my breath was taken away the moment we arrived. It was stunning. The beautiful view of the evergreen farm could be enjoyed from seating above on a terrace, below on a ground floor, on a patch of turf or under a tent. Our group made our way through the crowds to find a seat. There were many tables with firepits and couch seating, but all were already occupied. We were able to find seating in the tent.
Our designated driver waited at the table while we ventured to the tasting room to purchase a flight. There were four flight options: Sweet, Dry, Dry & Sweet and Exotics. I opted for the Dry & Sweet and it was the perfect balance of wines for my palate. My favorite was the Tiffany, a sweet wine made with Chambourcin grapes.
The winery had several food options, from pizza to BBQ and tacos, but we brought our own snacks of taco dip and popcorn as we had planned a meal for later that night. After my flight, I made my way back to the tasting room to buy some bottles for the table. At the time of my visit, a special addition of the Inspiration wine was displayed on the counters. A little shake from the bartender and the bottles illuminated with glistening edible glitter in gold, bronze and rose. I knew I had to purchase a bottle of the rose as it matched the pink theme for the weekend. The selection of wines was light, refreshing and not harsh with acid, ensuring we felt fine the next morning.
Energetic with live music, a lengthy list of various wines, friendly staff and the flexibility of bringing your own snacks all make Blue Ridge Winery a place I’d recommend to anyone. For a full list of events, wine and a podcast from the owners, head to the website.
