If you’re trying to cut down your plastic consumption, you may want to look to your bathroom. Single-use, plastic mouthwash bottles are a source of waste, just like those single-use plastic water bottles. But you can’t stop using mouthwash, right?
Luckily, there’s an eco-friendlier alternative. GuruNanda Concentrated Mouthwash comes in a tiny container made from recycled plastic. The container is outfitted with an eyedropper and looks a little like a liquid supplement bottle. Even though each bottle only contains 2 ounces, it can produce as much as 10 16-ounce bottles of traditional mouthwash — or about enough mouthwash for 300 days of once-daily use by a single user.
The heavily concentrated formula is meant to be used a few drops at a time. Just dilute the liquid in a glass of water and swish for a teeth-cleaning experience that uses 99 percent less water and 99 percent less plastic than traditional mouthwash. Better yet, since the formula comes in a small, 2-ounce bottle, you can easily pack it into your suitcase for mouth care on the go.
What’s in it, though? Designed by Western and Ayurvedic oral care experts, the formula contains no alcohol or fluoride. Instead, it’s made with essential oils, including spearmint, peppermint, cardamom and others. The combination freshens breath, kills bacteria, reduces inflammation, supports bone health and even helps reduce stress.
Each bottle is just $12.

Asheville, North Carolina, stands out as a must-visit destination in the Blue Ridge Mountains and surrounding areas as leaves begin to change color. Neufeld, biology professor, Appalachian State University, who has tracked Southern Appalachian fall color for decades.
