Somerston Estate, a Napa Valley Cabernet house on 1,682 acres, recently launched its Winemaker Lunch series, hosted at the estate of Craig Becker, director of viticulture & winemaking and co-founder; and Cody Hurd, winemaker. Executive Chef Dan Solomon crafted the menus to pair with Somerston Estate’s limited-production wines.
“At Somerston Estate, our passion for excellence is woven into every vine and bottle made at our estate, and with this new series, we aim to bring our patrons closer to the rich agricultural heritage that defines our wines,” said Becker. “We look forward to sharing our passion for viticulture, the beauty of our estate, and the exceptional flavors of our wines and Chef Solomon’s artfully crafted dishes.”
A limited number of guests can travel to the estate to enjoy a lunch and wine experience while receiving an inside look at the estate’s farming and winemaking processes. Each lunch, held 11 a.m.–1 p.m., costs $225 per person. Special pricing is available for Somerston Preferred Access members.
On Aug. 18, guests learn about preparing the vineyard and cellar for the arrival of freshly harvested fruit. On Sept. 22, with fall as the backdrop, guests see the bounty of the region and taste fruit at its stages of ripeness. And, at the last lunch on Oct. 20, during harvest period, visitors see the winery operations, a tour of the facilities and interact with the cellar crew.
