W Hotels has expanded into Saudi Arabia with the recent opening of brand-new W Riyadh – King Abdullah Financial District.
Across the hotel’s 210 guestrooms and multiple restaurants and social spaces, it embraces the destination’s culture and landscape through touches such as Arabic typography wall art, a massive tapestry created by a Saudi artist and Bedouin firepit-inspired seating areas. Geometric textures and tradition-inspired textiles combine with stone and veined marble. Meanwhile, guestrooms’ color palettes pair rich metallics with bold gem hues.
The property includes the brand’s signature AWAY Spa, a fitness studio and more than a dozen event spaces. Dining venues include a Latin American-inspired, open-kitchen eatery; coffee house; and poolside deck serving Mediterranean fare. An outdoor lounge with programming, such as performances and social events, is slated to open up later in the year.
“The opening of W Riyadh – KAFD is a significant moment for the brand as it enters Saudi Arabia and reinforces our commitment to redefining luxury lifestyle hospitality across the Middle East,” said Helen Leighton, vice president, luxury brands, EMEA, Marriott International. “W Hotels has always been rooted in creativity and culture, and W Riyadh – KAFD is an expression of the brand’s design ethos, anticipatory service evolution and immersive programming.”
