Travelers who love both trains and traveling with groups of friends or family members will be delighted to learn about a new fare deal from train magnate Amtrak. The American train company announced Share Fares, a series of discounts available to those traveling in groups.
Launched in late April and in place for the foreseeable future, these specially priced fares offer substantial discounts for groups of friends or family who book and travel together. For groups of up to four people, the first customer will pay the full price of the ticket. Each passenger thereafter will enjoy discounts of 15 percent, 60 percent and 70 percent, respectively.
These fares do not apply to round-trip tickets, so travelers must book one-way tickets to take advantage of the discounts, and then book another one-way ticket to return to their original station, for which they will also receive a discount.
To receive these automatically discounted fares, travelers can use promotional code V291 when checking out.
The discounted fares do not apply to seats on Acela trains or space on Auto Trains, but they do apply to various national routes such as the Northeast Regional Line, the California Zephyr and the Southwest Chief.
