Apps to Download Before Traveling

Whether traveling abroad or stateside, there are a few apps every cellphone should have. On the go is when most people realize what they forgot or need, but when downloads occur before the trip, it can be much smoother.

WhatsApp is perfect for texting, sharing locations and group chatting even while abroad. Avoid paying overages charges and international fees from a wireless carrier and use the app when on wireless, which will be in most hotels, restaurants and public places.

The vacation is booked and the hotels are all reserved, but just in case travelers need to relocate, have Airbnb or HotelTonight downloaded. Both apps help find vacant hotels and places to stay for the most affordable rate, should the hotel reserved not be up to par upon arrival.

An oldie, but a goodie for traveling abroad is the Google Translate app for Android. For international exchange it is important to keep this app in mind for quick translations. Granted they will not be perfect, but much better than no means of conversation. Another classic to keep in mind would be the TripAdvisor app for everything in between.

There are so many applications for phones from planning the trip and packing to flight information, hotel updates, food andactivities in the area.
