I have to admit I find some guilty pleasure on the show Shark Tank, where inventors and would-be entrepreneurs pitch their invention or business plan to successful businesspeople in exchange for start-up capital often by giving up a large stake in their company as investors bid to get into business with them.

I was pleased to see the AquaVault Portable Outdoor Safe on the show and was so impressed I purchased it as soon as I could track it down online. I’m a much better man for it and now enjoy my time poolside or on the beach knowing my valuables are safe, dry and protected from the sun and sand.

Made from durable, high-impact ABS thermoplastic, I was quite impressed with the sturdiness and construction of the safe. While if someone was truly determined to get it open, there is little doubt they could as it’s designed to be attached to 90 percent of beach/pool furniture, this thing is far from a pushover and will certainly take some time, tools and noise to get it open.

Its storage capacity is also quite impressive; I recently found it storing my smartphone as well as three more my friends asked me to stow away for them. Also, that was still plenty of room for four wallets, hotel keys and cash.

At only 1.5 pounds, the AquaVault travels pretty well, though does take up a bit of space but surely you can fill it when you pack with your valuables. At a height of 6.5 inches by 5 3/8 inches by 9 3/8 inches, there is plenty of room to protect quite a bit of what matters most and can also be secured to towel racks in a hotel bathroom for additional security. The three-dial combination lock is easy to use.
