We all occasionally need a break from bustling city life during our travels and the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden in Vancouver, is a wonderful place to get away from it all.
You have the option of doing a self-guided walking tour or signing up for a guide. I recommend the guided tour as that’s what I did and it turned out to be incredibly informative and relaxing. The garden itself is serene and quiet and the landscape pristine. The structures are absolutely beautiful. The guided tour was supposed to last for 45 minutes, but actually went for an hour, so be prepared to go over.
If you walk the gardens yourself, you’ll actually be able to sit and stare out over the pond for a bit while you snack on a lunch. Either way you’re in for a great treat. Everything felt authentic and for a $12 admission price, I believe it was a great deal.
Afterwards you’re offered time to sit and relax with a cup of tea, which you should definitely do. Then make your way over to the shop for a souvenir before you hit the road. I would definitely pop in for another visit if I find myself in Vancouver in the future.
