Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be only a day for couples; single people can still go out and have fun with their friends or go on the prowl to find other singles and make a possible connection. WalletHub, the personal finance website, recently released a report on 2022’s Best & Worst States for Singles.

To help unattached Americans improve their chances of finding love, WalletHub compared the 50 states across 30 key indicators of dating friendliness. It ranges from the share of single adults to online dating opportunities and more.

The best states for singles include:

  1. California
  2. New York
  3. Florida
  4. Texas
  5. Pennsylvania

And the worst states for singles include:

  1. West Virginia
  2. Arkansas
  3. North Dakota
  4. Wyoming
  5. Mississippi

WalletHub also found Louisiana has the highest number of single adults whereas Utah has the lowest. North Dakota has the lowest unemployment rate for the single population while Mississippi has the highest.

Maine has the highest gender balance of singles, so no matter what you are looking for, you have a chance to spark some type of connection. If it doesn’t happen in person, there is always online dating. With online dating and mobile dating apps, there is a higher chance of meeting someone through technology. Washington, New Hampshire, Colorado, and Utah have the most online dating opportunities, while Hawai’i, Utah and Maryland have the most mobile dating opportunities.
