Having a good beach blanket isn’t something you ever consider until you’ve tried out your eccentric friend’s cool and scientific beach blanket that eliminates half of the hassles of going to the beach. It’s no fun carrying that damp rag around for the day once you’ve left the beach.

Step forth the Matador Pocket Blanket. It’s so small it could literally fit into your pocket, quite comfortably as well. Yet it’s surprisingly spacious once spread out to its full size. It’s a great purchase to throw into the glove box. You never know when you might want it!

There’s also the durable All Purpose Blanket from JJ Cole. This one has a sewn-in insert so you can fold quickly and accurately when you need to get out of the sand quickly, but also want to keep things organized. This is definitely the low-cost option, a steal at $34. It also comes in a great variety of colors and two different sizes.

Lastly, there’s the Tuffo Water-Resistant Outdoor Blanket. This keeps you sand free at the beach, so you can actually enjoy the softness on your blanket when you return from the water. It’s made from 80 percent polyester and 20 percent cotton to guarantee practicality and comfort. It’s lightweight and convenient for packing as well, so it won’t take up much space on those trips to the beach, but it’s surely one thing you won’t want to forget.

Bitter Cocktail Bar, Barcelona

Barcelona has seen a recent influx of craft cocktails bars within the past five years or so, and Sant Antoni seems to be one of the city’s epicenters of such swanky watering holes. Amid the crisscross streets, organic grocery stores and the soon-to-open, recently renovated Sant Antoni market is Bitter, an inconspicuous cocktail bar where there’s more than meets the eye.
