Don’t miss out on this year’s biggest and latest theme park attractions.

This year brings Six Flag’s introduction of virtual reality. Along with some help from Samsung Gear VR headsets, guests can experience an entirely new roller coaster thrill ride at nine parks. There are six New Revolution Virtual Reality coasters, in which participants enter a futuristic battlefield as the pilot of a fighter jet, which allows for interactive play as participants fire weapons. The other three coasters are themed after the Superman comics, inviting guests to dive, loop, twist and turn around an immersive world. Check out this groundbreaking new technology at Six Flags parks in Montréal, New York, Massachusetts, Maryland, Atlanta, St. Louis, California, Dallas and San Antonio.

In June, southern staple Dollywood introduced the world’s fastest wooden rollercoaster at more than 70 mp. Lightning Rod is also the world’s first wooden roller coaster to use a launch system rather than a chain lift hill. Despite the hype surrounding the opening, Lightning Rod faced multiple issues, thanks to a recalled part and performance failures.

Any Disney fan knows Disney Shanghai recently opened to the public. Not only does this park feature the tallest castle out of all the Disney properties, but also a wide array of Shanghai-specific offerings, including the world’s first Mandarin rendition of The Lion King performed live.
