Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but may not always be the most fun — that’s why brunch was invented. Brunch combines breakfast favorites with a little bit of lunch to make for an exquisite afternoon delight. New Jersey, known to have some of the best breakfast as it boasts countless diners, also offers numerous brunch options.

Sweet Basil’s Café, in Livingston, serves brunch daily from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. with unique options like pulled pork benedict and whiskey raisins and bananas pancakes.

Bottagra, in Hawthorne, is known for its Champagne showers and glow stick brunches. This brunch is a lifestyle party unlike anything else. The restaurant creates a full nightclub experience, making it NJ’s premiere Sunday brunch destination. Brunch is held once a month September–May and during the summer months, brunch hits the road in various hot spots like Vegas, South Beach and Atlantic City.

If you’re waking up in Asbury Park craving sweet or savory, Toast has just what you need. With their selection of omelets, stuffed French toast, Red Velvet pancakes or Bennys, you can’t go wrong. You know it is delicious when their mantra is Peace, Love & Pancakes.

Le Club Avenue ,a modern French brasserie-style restaurant, sits overlooking the ocean in Long Branch. Brunch is available Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. This swanky restaurant serves an eclectic assortment of brunch dishes from escargot to lobster haché, steak frites, oysters, French toast and more.

Eggs and things, a lobster BLT and taleggio frittata are just a few tasty brunch items at Anthony David’s in Hoboken. Italian classics and new creations tickle brunch-goers’ fancy as brunch is served all day 9 a.m.–3 p.m.
