Reviews / Restaurant

Biscuit Head is a popular, small chain of southern restaurants in North and South Carolina. Open for breakfast and lunch, the restaurant specializes in biscuits and other Southern specialties. We visited the West Asheville location on our recent trip to North Carolina.

The restaurant doesn’t take reservations and it’s popular, so we were prepared for a long wait. We weren’t prepared for the efficiency and organization of the restaurant. While we did have to wait in line, there were menus at the entrance for us to peruse. Once inside, we realized it was counter service, which helped in the efficiency of the ordering process. Though there were a few tables of people lingering over coffee, there were plenty of open tables to occupy after we ordered.

I couldn’t go to Biscuit Head and not order a biscuit. I decided on the country ham biscuit sandwich which came with country ham, a fried green tomato, cheesy eggs and a side of red eye gravy. We took our number and made our way to an open seat. Before our food arrived, I made a trip to the restaurant’s jam and butter bar. There was a great selection of interesting jams, jellies and butters to supplement your meal. I sampled the bananas foster jam, which was incredible.

Our meals came out quickly and we all loved our choices. If you find yourself in North or South Carolina, a trip to Biscuit Head is worth the wait.
