Boosting Your Immune System On The Go

Safety

Travel, particularly during cold season, can really give your immune system a beating, leaving you exposed to all kinds of germs and bacteria. To make sure you stay on the go, try incorporating some simple, common sense health tips into your travel routine.

Water, water, water. Be sure that no matter what you’re doing, you always have a bottle of water (preferably a refillable one) by your side. This is particularly true if you’re doing a lot of flying.

Up your vitamin intake. If you know you’re not getting enough vitamins through fruits and veggies in your daily diet (and most of us aren’t), add a vitamin supplement to your morning or evening routine. There are many multivitamin supplements that are made particularly to boost your immune system, which come in pill, powder and candy form.

If possible, sleep. While traveling can definitely mess up your sleep patterns, it’s important to keep them as regulated as possible if you suspect you may be coming down with something. The difference between a good and a bad night’s sleep can be everything if your body’s fighting off an illness.

Avoid alcohol. Yes, it’s not what you want to hear, but it’s true. While alcohol may make you forget about any possible symptoms you may be developing at the moment, they’ll only make any impending illnesses worse once they’re in full swing, like when you wake up with a hangover.

Get your flu shot. While some may avoid getting their flu shot and instead hope for the best, it’s always better to play it safe rather than sorry. A flu shot only requires a quick trip to the pharmacy or even some local grocery stores, a simple and easy precaution.
