Fujiyoshida sits at the base of Mount Fuji and draws a lot of visitors as a result. Here is how to see the town on a budget.
Start with breakfast at Komeda Coffee, which offers good sandwiches and coffee ($12), then head to Arakurayama Sengen Park. Sitting on the edge of town, this park is home to a great pagoda that offers incredible views over to Mount Fuji.
For lunch, try Menkyokaiden, which offers delicious food at bargain prices. The udon noodles are particularly highly renowned, and cost around $9.
In the afternoon, take out a bike and explore the lake. It’s a great way to get some fresh air and appreciate the beauty of Mount Fuji from different angles ($15). You’ll certainly work up an appetite exploring the network of paths and trails, so head to Sushi Yoshi when you get back.
Here you can get a meal in traditional surroundings ($30). It’s a family-run joint known for incredibly fresh sushi and a friendly atmosphere, so take your time and savor the experience.
To continue your evening, get some drinks at Kenny karaoke bar and join the locals in singing the night away.
