The newest and by far sassiest fitness app available, Cakewalk is free and available for iPhone and Apple Watch. Download the app and you’ll immediately be greeted with an animated, walking piece of birthday cake with a sour disposition. It’s name, the app says, is Cakewalk and, according to it, Cakewalk thinks you’re lazy. Cakewalk is here to shame you into exercising.
The app tracks your footsteps and movement each day and then gives you a sarcastically-worded report on just exactly how you’re doing. Expect snotty little quips such as, “Nice going. You’ve done nothing today.” If you’re not doing well enough, Cakewalk will show up and offer you a challenge, such as a certain amount of steps attained within a tiny window of time. It’ll also compare you to all of your Twitter friends on the leaderboard, but connecting the app to your Twitter account isn’t required. Let it be noted Cakewalk may tweet out how much you suck.
The app works off of Apple’s built-in health tracker, which isn’t always the most reliable (especially if you’re one of those people who frequently leaves their phone sitting on a table or in a bag while you’re doing other things), but you won’t find another step tracker app that will be any more so.
While not for everyone, Cakewalk is perfect for those who need a more entertaining way to get their steps in for the day, particularly if your brand of humor is mostly sarcasm and self-deprecation.
